She equips professionals and communities with skills-based training to identify and respond to human trafficking and exploitation. 

Heidi has extensive experience in pediatric and forensic nursing and has performed and reviewed more than 1,500 pediatric forensic examinations. She has trained hundreds of healthcare professionals, collaborated with multidisciplinary teams, and continues to serve as an expert witness in child sexual assault trials. 

In 2019, she implemented an evidence-based exploitation screening process in an Emergency Department, leading to the identification of hundreds of vulnerable children. Heidi has testified in support of state legislation, briefed leaders on Capitol Hill, presented internationally including at the United Nations, and authored a 2025 Amicus Brief to the U.S. Supreme Court on age verification. 

Her work has been featured in award-winning documentaries, and she was honored with the 2023 Cry Purple Award for outstanding anti-trafficking leadership.
